Tongdosa Temple, near Ulsan, is one of Korea's Three Jewels Temples, established in the 7th century. It houses Buddha relics, including a robe and a skull bone, enshrined in a stupa. Unique for its focus on relics over statues, the temple offers a serene environment for meditation and reflection, set amidst mountains and forests. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Tongdosa is a key pilgrimage and spiritual site.
It is known for its fine sand and stunning views of the Gwangan Bridge. It’s a popular spot for water sports, dining, and enjoying vibrant nightlife, offering a perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment.
The UN Cemetery is the only United Nations cemetery in the world. It honors UN soldiers from 16 countries who died during the Korean War, featuring beautifully maintained gardens, memorials, and monuments dedicated to their sacrifice.
Choi Min-shik Gallery; Located in Busan's Ami-dong, Choi Min-Shik Gallery showcases the poignant black-and-white photographs of Choi Min-Shik, a renowned documentarian. Gamcheon was a refuge to many people fleeing to Busan during the Korean War. The creative urban regeneration project started in 2010 and the success of the project attracts 1,400,000 Korean and foreign tourists to the village annually. It's earning this village the nickname of "Machu Picchu of Busan."
It is Korea's largest seafood market. After the Korean War, the market solidified itself as a fish market. This market represents Busan and is famous throughout the country. If you visit you can eat fresh raw fish right at the market.
