During a time of impending invasion by Japanese forces, Silla, in its desperation, sought the power of Monk Uisang and his profound Hwaeom Sinjung prayers. Miraculously, through his spiritual rituals, the invaders were repelled. In awe of this divine intervention, the King of Silla honored Monk Uisang and commissioned the construction of the Beomeosa Temple.
