Why visit here
Jeju is Korea's main domestic flight destination, with over 80 flights a day from Gimpo. No visa is required for most nationalities to enter Jeju directly without clearing mainland Korean immigration.
Highlights
- Seongsan Ilchulbong — A tuff-cone crater on the eastern coast. The sunrise hike takes about 30 minutes to the top.
- Hallasan National Park — Dormant volcano with three main trails. Seongpanak is the easiest, about 9 hours round trip.
- Manjanggul Lava Tube — A 1 km UNESCO-listed lava cave. The interior stays around 10°C year-round.
- Udo Island — A 15-minute ferry ride from Seongsan. Rental scooters loop the island.
Tip: Jeju's bus system is usable but slow. Renting a car (international driving permit required) cuts transit time roughly in half.
