Daegu Travel in Korea

Daemyeong Reservoir, located adjacent to Dalseong Marsh, is at the convergence point of the Nakdonggang River, Geumhogang River, Daemyeongcheon Stream, and Jincheon Stream. This area is a rich ecological reserve, home to a diverse range of wildlife including the narrow-mouthed toad, leopard cat, weasel, common kestrel, and water deer, along with various wild plants. Visitors to the area can explore narrow-mouthed toad habitats, observation decks, ecological exploration trails, and photo zones. There's also a narrow-mouthed toad ecological learning center for educational experiences. The surrounding landscape, with its stretches of silver grass and reeds along the walking decks, offers a picturesque setting, particularly attractive for autumn photography.

Biseulsan Recreational Forest is located near Daegyeonbong Peak, between Johwabong and Gwanggibong Peaks, and is beautiful all year round. The largest charm of this forest is the ability to enjoy the beautiful scenery in comfort thanks to the amenities. The valley features many uniquely shaped rocks. Every year in late spring, the field near the summit of Biseulsan Mountain blooms with wildflowers. The forest is a popular location for youth retreats during school vacations. Additional facilities include cabins, a campground, pond, and more.

Nokdongseowon Confucian Academy was built in 1789 in honor of General Kim Chung-seon (1571-1642), who contributed greatly to Korea's defense during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The academy was shut down in 1868, and reinstated in 1885. Then, in 1971, it was moved to its current location. Today, General Kim's tablet is enshrined in this hall, where a memorial service is held every March. Nearby attractions on the grounds of Nokdongseowon include Nokdongsa Temple, Sunguidang Shrine, Hyangyangmun Gate and memorial stones.

Apsan Cafe Street is filled with cafes of all different types. From houses modified into a cafe, restaurants, and gallery cafes, there are more than 40 coffee shops along the street. Most are cafes serving coffee, sandwichs, and desserts, but there are also restaurants serving pizza, pasta, and steak as well as Japanese food, pubs and pie shops. The street is perfect for couples going on a date or families looking for sweets. Attractions nearby include Apsan Park and Anjirang Gopchang Alley for a place to eat, drink and rest. Anjirang Station (Daegu Subway Line 1) is also 5-10 minutes away on foot.

Ttangttang Chicken Land opened its doors on September 1, 2018 in Daegu, the center of Chimac (chicken and beer). At Korea's first chicken theme park, visitors can enjoy seeing, making, and tasting different types of chicken.

Hyewon's House served as the house of Hyewon (played by Kim Tae-ri), the main character of the film "Little Forest (2018)." The site has quickly become a main attraction of Gunwi-gun. Parking at the entrance to the village, visitors can enjoy the small town ambiance as they walk to the house. Props from the film are located throughout the house, and visitors can enjoy riding on the bicycle that Hyewon rode.

Samunjin was the location of a ferry dock on the Nakdonggang River in the past. During the Japanese occupation, the area was turned into a recreation ground, which saw many people coming to enjoy leisure strolls. In November 2013, three hanok jumak (traditional dining establishment) were built at the site of the old dock and the current Samunjin Jumakchon Village was opened. The jumak serve a range of foods that were enjoyed in the past, such as makgeolli, gukbap, and buchujeon (chives pancake). The village is well-known as a place to enjoy the sunset.

Daegu Korean Chinese Association building is a red brick two-story Western-style house built in 1929. Seo Byeong-guk, a rich man in Daegu, entrusted the design and construction to Mo Mungeum, a Chinese architect. It is a flat rectangular structure, and the protruding granite porch balances left and right symmetry. There is a theory that the bricks were brought from Pyeongyang and the woods from Geumgangsan Mountain. It was also used as an HID (Headquarters of Intelligence Detachment) building. There is one building, a playground, a statue of Chiang Kai-shek, and a mural of a Chinese figure painted at the entrance. It is a representative modern building in the Daegu area that boasts a beautiful appearance and is currently used as the office of the Daegu Korean Chinese Association. It was designated as a National Registered Cultural Heritage on June 19, 2006, as it shows the style of modern architecture in the 1930s, not many examples of which are left. At the Dinosaur Park, located in Gosangol of Apsan Mountain, Nam-gu, Daegu, you can see life-size dinosaur models such as Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Brachiosaurus. In addition, there is a photo zone with dinosaur eggs and baby dinosaurs where you can take pictures freely. Also, if you use the augmented reality app on your smartphone, you can see the dinosaur fossil creation process in a video for a more vivid dinosaur experience.
