Why visit here
Jagalchi is the largest seafood market in Korea, and most restaurants along Haeundae Beach serve hoe caught the same morning. Busan is also the only Korean city with a Chinatown dating to the 1880s.
Highlights
- Jagalchi Market — Second-floor restaurants prepare the fish you pick downstairs. Lunch is the busiest service.
- Guppo Market — Inland from Jagalchi, with wholesale prices on dried fish and shellfish.
- Choryang Milmyeon Alley — Cold wheat-noodle soup, a Busan specialty developed by Korean War refugees from the north.
- Haeundae Market — Pork sausage bibim-dangmyeon and seafood pancakes after a day at the beach.
Tip: Jagalchi fish prices are set by weight, not per plate. Agree on the price per kilogram before the fish is killed and prepared.
